Columbia, MD – November 14, 2023 – Owl Cyber Defense (“Owl”), the leading provider of Government-approved cross domain security solutions for military, intelligence and critical infrastructure organizations, today announced that James (“Jim”) Gallagher has been hired as Senior Vice President of Engineering. In his role, Mr. Gallagher will oversee the vision and strategy for Owl’s premier line of NSA-accredited network security solutions, tying together engineering teams from all of Owl’s U.S.-based offices.

“Owl is not just the leader, but the last word in cross domain solution development, and I’m inspired and eager to join such an accomplished team of industry experts,” commented Mr. Gallagher. “In the ever-evolving landscape of cross domain solutions and the cyber security industry as a whole, embracing growth is essential, and I very much look forward to being a part of what’s next for Owl as we design and build ground-breaking, trusted security for the world’s most vital networks.”

Previously Global VP of Engineering for Mercury Systems, Mr. Gallagher brings extensive software, FPGA, and tactical hardware engineering leadership experience to Owl, including implementing DevSecOps, Agile, CMMI, and lean manufacturing techniques in engineering development. Jim has particularly significant expertise in secure product development and anti-tamper solutions that prevent the compromise of technology products from assembly through delivery.

“Experienced, thoughtful engineering leadership is an essential strategic piece for Owl as we enter the next phase of our growth strategy and I am extremely excited to have someone of Jim’s caliber to take the helm of our product organization,” said Scott Orton, CEO of Owl. “As a people-first leader, Jim is a perfect fit for Owl to bring our engineering teams closer together, enable broader collaboration, and build even more efficient and effective processes.”

Mr. Gallagher joins Owl after 14 years with Mercury Systems (and its predecessor companies) and spent 22 years with General Motors and subsidiaries in a variety of engineering leadership roles. Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a Master’s of Software Engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon.
