COO being promoted to lead the organization as it delivers cross domain and data diode network segmentation solutions to protect government and critical infrastructure assets
Columbia, MD – November 2, 2023 – Owl Cyber Defense (“Owl”), the leading provider of Government-approved cross domain security solutions for military, intelligence and critical infrastructure organizations, today announced that it has named current Chief Operating Officer (COO) Scott Orton to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. As CEO, Mr. Orton will continue Owl’s legacy of driving innovative technology that meets the demanding requirements of intelligence, defense and critical infrastructure organizations.

Throughout Mr. Orton’s career, he has been directly involved in protecting the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense’s most critical data. Mr. Orton shares Owl’s commitment to deliver elite edge security, cross domain solutions, and proven expertise for high-assurance network protection and secure data transfers. Owl, a DC Capital Partners portfolio company, has been investing significantly in next generation product releases in each of its core diode and CDS product areas to deliver greater security and performance to existing and new clients. Leveraging a proven software architecture, Owl is expanding their leading capabilities to the Tactical, Cloud and Commercial markets.

Mr. Orton has served in a variety of management roles throughout his career. Most recently Mr. Orton was Vice President and General Manager, Edge Processing at Mercury Systems from 2015 to 2021 where he led a line of business that integrated several acquisitions and grew them into a $250 million leader in commercially-supplied secure computing. He has over 25 years’ technical experience in secure processing, cryptographic implementations, and custom semiconductor designs and has held related managerial and technical positions at Mercury Systems, Raytheon, and ANSER. Additionally, Mr. Orton’s experience includes serving on multiple NDIA committees regarding defense electronics as well as leading the establishment of the Anti-Tamper Executive Agent (ATEA).
