Columbia, MD – April 19, 2022 – Owl Cyber Defense (“Owl”), the leading provider of hardware-enforced security solutions for military, intelligence and critical infrastructure organizations, today announced that it has promoted its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Ken Walker to President of the company. To capitalize on the company’s recent and expected growth, Owl sought an experienced hand who is sharply focused on the Owl business to drive the organization forward.
As CTO and President, Walker will continue Owl’s legacy leading with technology from the top. He is leading Owl to next generation cross-domain solutions and data diodes with new hardware cybersecurity using field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology, and his expertise in cybersecurity, cross domain solutions and work with the U.S. government will further benefit Owl customers.
“Ken was selected from a field of internal and external candidates based on the technical skills and acumen he possesses, his intimate relationship with the U.S. government as a trusted advisor and his knowledge of the cybersecurity industry,” said Bob Stalick, Owl CEO. “For over 15 years, spanning both his time at Tresys and Owl, Ken has set our technical direction and he will continue to set that direction as he guides Owl forward.”
Walker’s expertise includes and goes beyond an intimate partnership with the National Security Agency’s National Cross Domain Strategy and Management Office (NCDSMO), knowledge of Raise the Bar (RTB) and Lab Based Security Assessment (LBSA) testing requirements and Baseline Certification process.
Since 2006, Walker has served in a variety of technical and management roles including Vice President (VP) of Services, VP of Products and CTO at Owl and Tresys Technology prior to the merger in 2019. He has over 30 years’ experience in information system security and has held related technical positions at DynCorp, SecureMethods, Booz Allen Hamilton and Trusted Information Systems. Walker takes over as President of Owl effective immediately.
This news follows last year’s announcements where Walker led Owl in the release of IXD, the world’s first industrial cross domain solution, and XD Matrix, an industry-first cybersecurity device that aggregates data from multiple sources for secure logging and reporting. Additionally, Owl expanded its international footprint with the opening of a regional office in Abu Dhabi, demonstrating the company’s commitment to its growing customer base and forward trajectory.
